As we go on, we remember...

"...all they're bags are packed, they're ready to go..."
"...cause they're leaving on a jet plane, don't know when they'll be back again..." John Lennon

Hey everyone,

I think we're all aware that since the start of year, some of our PM16 peeps including myself have dispersed to various parts of the world ( Malaysia, Korea, Australia...etc. ).

Personally, it's been awhile since I've had a good ol' decent conversation with anyone of you, or simply leaving a msg on your facebook page. I have to admit that I've been caught up with adjusting to the new environment, sometimes even trying so hard to fit in that I don't remind myself as often as I could to keep in touch with people back home. For that reason, really sorry everyone!

A close friend of mine of 16 years, will be leaving for UK this week, and I guess this week for me, has really been a week of self-reflection and just setting back a little while to remember how important everyone I've ever met has been, regardless of how seldom I'll ever get to meet you guys/girls again. It's made me realise that if I kept on thinking the way I think: that distance = impossibility of long-lasting friendships, then things will never get better, and we may continue to lose sight of each other...

Anyways, before I run along the lines of sounding emotional...HAHA, I just wanted to tell everyone...especially some of the peeps we know who are leaving for UK:

Yvonne, Yi Ying, Ee Lin and Alexis...

YES, as a class we are going further from each other by distance. Nevertheless, really wanna thank each and everyone of you girls who are leaving and every peep from PM16 too for the wonderful things we did as a class in 07/08. Keeping in touch definitely isn't gonna be easy ( and c'mon it never is!), but nevertheless not impossible. Some of the little gestures we do ocassionally: wishing somebody on their birthday, writing an email, Skyping or maybe some random comment on facebook would make the impossible, some impossible thing to achieve. ( goodness the confusion im creating!)

hehe, well to close up this ( hopefully-not-pathetically-cheesy-sounding) post,

Congratulations Everyone on furthering your studies to University.Take Care Girls. Have a safe trip, Study Hard,Make Us Proud and God Bless :)

PM16...our last group pic :)

ps-If anyone has anything to add, pls do!

Sincerely,
Sher Lynn

Hi from Adelaide!!!!

heyo people of pm16!!!

am currently doing Dentistry in the Uni of Adelaide.

one of the buildings in the Uni of Adelaide
I LOOOVE dentistry =D haha.. i love teeth in general.. so everyone.. open wideeeeee.... *insert evil laugh*.

my locker =)
Things here are handled quite differently compared to college; we are split into tutorial groups and they MAKE us discuss things based on certain case scenarios. Initially i found it quite hard to get myself to speak up, but now i think i'm starting to get used to it, but i find it annoying, and sometimes a bit boring.

all our classes are interlinked, so whatever we discuss in tutorial groups and also lectures, we get to practice on each other in the clinic. it's fun, but a bit stressful cause i dont want to hurt my classmate or cause bleeding etc. it's really nice that you would really get to feel what it's like to be in a clinic, move the dental chair up and down.. give the patient spaceship rides...lol. 3 of us share a dental chair and would rotate the role of being the operator (dentist), dental assistant and the patient. so really, it's a matter of poking and being poked. haha

teeth probing

currently i need to collect extracted teeth so i am passing jars out to dentists. i got a jar already and it looks kinda gross because of all the tissue still attached to the teeth.. all floating around. but i dont have a picture of it and i passed it to the dental hospital to be sterilized. will post a pic up when i get another jar back. oh yeah and once we were all told to not brush for 2 days so we could look at plague build up in the clinic. kinda gross. but just FYI, it takes the about 2 weeks of no brushing before you start getting a bit of gingivitis. caries would only come much much later. but really, dont get any ideas though. brush.

then there is the pre-conceived idea that dental and med students are just people who study all day and dont party, but in reality they party so hard, it's scary. social gatherings are just excuses to drink. haha. i've been to two parties held by the dental students society, and it's all free flow of alcohol and so quite a few people get drunk. since am a freshie, i get to go in for free. haha. the last gathering i went to was held in our common room in the dental hospital basement, so they had flashing lights and loud music and dancing, a very club like atmosphere. it was fun. the med students have more of such events, you can ask Karim about it. a very best thing about our common room besides the tv and couch is that they have a pool table!!! and it's FOC!!! hehehehehhehe.. better than asia cafe, though the table and balls are smaller. it's free so am not complaining. =)

ADH
Adelaide isnt a very small place, but it really is a quiet city. there really isn't much to do.. sure there's clubs, pubs and bars (even gay ones and strip clubs!),  and casinos but since am not into any of those activities, nothing much for me to do. the streets are really quiet on most nights and on weekends, a lot of shops are closed. quiet the opposite of Malaysia. They have really a really nice Botanical Gardens though and also nice public beaches. The only beach i've been to in Glenelg... palindromic name cooooollll.. nice white sand very fine, kinda like the sand in Redang. it's cold and wet now... very unfun.. seems to be raining the whole day and for the next week, i see only one spot of yellow on the weather forecast. sad. i miss malaysian weather. the grass is always greener on the other side???

random stuff on Rundle Mall (which is a street) during Fringe week

Garden of Unearthly Delights ( it's a fair, with a funky name)

Botanical Gardens
Glenelg Beach with a few of Karim's friends
Sher Lynn and Karim are the only 2 pm16 ppl here, unlike the whole gang in IMU. you guys must be having so much fun together. I see Sher Lynn from time to time, but it is harder to catch her because we're not really using the same campus, most of the time she's in the main campus while i am in the dental hospital. I meet Karim almost everyday, because our campus are located right beside each other and sometimes I use the lecture halls in the Med Sch and also for other obvious reasons. we cook together almost every weekend. so far so good, we've not disappointed our tastebuds yet =P and no.. no food poisoning. hahaha.

Karim on dish washing duty in my kitchen

yummmmmmyyyy =)

The last gathering we had was when a few of us girls and guys went to Harbourtown. it's this isolated shopping place where there is nothing in the area except retail outlets. stuff there are cheaper too. hehehehehe.. shopper's paradise. =) it was good fun shopping for us girls, not too sure about the guys though.

Living out for the first time is really quite different. so much things you have to do by yourself, the cooking, laundry, walking etc.. i really miss being driven around. i guess i really have been pampered. and i miss my cats *sniff* but all in all, it really is a good experience, being out on your own, meeting new people, having a bit more freedom to do things your way and learning that you can actually make great tasting food. =P enough rambling from me.. what about you guys???? will be back in july. hope to meet up with you guys and do loads of catching up! take care!!!!

Hey guys. *waves from Bukit Jalil*

I think it has been WAYYYYYY too long since this blog's been updated. I know I have not been in touch with most of you and I'm really sorry. And to make up for it, I figured I could update you guys about what's going on with my life now. So, hear me out okay?

I'm doing Pharmacy in IMU.

Lectures are okay, I guess. But Maths lectures are torture and painful to sit through, which explains the lack of students during Maths classes.

Orientation week was awesome. I had the chance to meet nice and amazing people.

We had a charity project in which I was Vice Chairperson(not trying to brag here). The home we visited was Sunbeam Home.

I'm glad we were able to put a smile on every child's face that day.

The bunch of friends I hang out with are fun and out-going. And sometimes, quite random too.

At a friend's house warming party where one of us got drunk. Nope, not me.

I sprained my ankle last month.

And had to wear flip flops to uni everyday for one whole month. It's better now but still hurts if I put too much pressure on it when I exercise.

Attended IMU Ball 2009 at Mariott Putrajaya last Sunday.

Met up with Yvonne and Katherine last night to do some catching up and gossiping.

All in all, uni life's great. But, I still miss college life. A lot.

If you're free, do spare 5 minutes or so to share how your life has been for the past few months. I miss everyone of you to bits.

Take care everyone! Cheers!
